The toubled teen industry is a relatively new form of punishment undertaken by parents in an effort to "correct" their teenagers. Many of the facilities rely on hard labor and physical punishment to repremand their charges. The labor done can range from farming/ranching to extreme camping and hiking during dangerous times of year and/or with limited resources. Many survivors of the industry report deaths, widespread abuse, withholding of personal effects, and lack of hygiene.
WildernessTruth was created to help survivors connect with others and begin the long joruney of recovering from the truama inflicted by the industry.
